In order to Addon or Park a domain please perform the following steps:

1. Login to your Bluehost cPanel
   2. Click on the "Domain Manager" tab at the top of the screen.
   3. Under "Action Items" click the link "Assign a domain to your cPanel account"
   4. Carefully read and follow the instructions given on that page
   5. Click the "Add Domain" button at the bottom of the page to assign the domain. Once complete you should see the domain is listed in the domain manager tab.

When it comes to assigning domains to your account, there are 2 options available in the cpanel:

* A parked domain is a domain name that points to your main domain on your account (ex. if cars.com is your main Web site, you can purchase the cars.net and park it so that if a visitor were to type cars.net they would see the same Web site as if they had typed cars.com).
    * An add-on domain allows you to have two separate domains on your account that share the space. You can have a cars.com and a candy.com as an add-on domain. The candy.com would be a completely separate Web site and visitors would not know that it is part of your cars.com account.

It is possible to move a domain from one account to another.

Moving Addon/Parked Domain

1) Create the directories on the new account for all Addon domains you plan to move and upload all the files you need for those domains

2) Use the Addon Domain tool to add the domain to the new account.  It will require the password from the old account to authorize the move.

Moving Primary Domain

Before you can move the primary domain to another Hostmonster account, you will need to first close the old account OR rename it to another domain name.

1) Our billing team can assist you in closing the account. They can be reached by phone at 888-401-4678 or via email at billing@bluehost.com.  The domain can then be moved over, as above.

2)If you would rather Rename your account, We can make it happen. Some things  you should be aware of include:

1. You must own the domain you're switching to.  If you don't, it will cost $10/year to register it with us.  You can also register it at another location and point the nameservers to us.  We'll then add it to your account free.
2. Your current main domain can never become your main domain again.
3. Your username, password, files, databases and e-mails will remain unchanged.
4. The domain you're switching to will now use the public_html directory itself--just like your current main domain.
5. This means you may need to move your website files to match.
6. Regardless, just in case, I highly suggest backing up your website and databases first, as this is a significant change to your account.

If you'd like to take advantage of the Rename, please reply with the last 4 digits of the credit card on file or, if you prefer, the password on the account.

To reactivate your account, please fax or email a copy of the account holder's government issued ID (such as a passport or driver's license) and the front and back of the credit card that was charged. You can white out all but the last four card numbers on the card front. If you signed up through PayPal we will need a copy of the PayPal holder's  government issued ID (such as a driver's license or passport), the password on the hosting account, and the PayPal e-mail.

Traceroute can be accessed at a DOS or command prompt. An Internet connection must already be established.  How to use Traceroute:

Windows Environment

1. Click on Start > Programs > DOS Prompt (Windows 95-98) or Command Prompt (NT). In a Windows 2000 or XP environment, click on Start > Run. Type "command" into the dialog box, then click OK.
   2. In the resulting command line window, type tracert hostname, where hostname can be a domain name, a machine name or an IP address.
   3. Press Enter.
      For example:
        C:\> tracert www.emints.more.net

Mac OS X Environment

1. Double-click the Hard Drive icon > Applications folder > Utilities folder > Network Utility program.
   2. Select the Traceroute tab and enter the hostname, where hostname can be a domain name, a machine name or an IP address.
   3. Press Enter.

Novell Environment

1. At the System Console screen, type load iptrace hostname, where hostname can be a domain name, a machine name or an IP address.
   2.  Press Enter.

Linux/UNIX Environment

1. Launch a command line interface (will vary depending on the operating system distribution).
   2. In the resulting command line window or screen, type traceroute hostname, where hostname can be a domain name, a machine name or an IP address.
   3. Press Enter.
      For example:
        [sygny@linuxbox /home]# traceroute www.novell.com

These extra commands will work in any environment except for the Novell operating system.

* To stop traceroute, type Ctrl-C.
    * To print the results of traceroute to a text file on a local drive, add > textname.txt to the command:
      For example:
         tracert www.pmail.com > tracert.txt
      will save the results to a tracert.txt file located on the primary hard drive.
    *  To append the results of more than one traceroute to the same text file on your local drive add >> tracert.txt to the command:
      For example:
        tracert www.rpmfind.net >> tracert.txt
      will save the results to the same tracert.txt file located on the primary hard drive.

Technical - I am getting 500 Errors

500 errors can be caused by several things.

1. Make sure all your folders have permissions of 755 or lower. Anything higher then 755 will cause a 500 error.  Make sure all your files are 644 or lower.

2. Any miscoded or conflicting entries in the .htaccess file will throw a 500 error as well. you can test to see if this is the issue by renaming that file to .htaccess.old and then reloading the page you were getting that error on.

3. Too many running php or fastcgi processes. You can view the processes you are running by clicking on the process manager under the advanced heading of your cPanel.

4. Replace the existing php.ini with a new default one from the server.

You can create a php.ini file in the cPanel. Click on the PHPCOINFIG icon under the SOFTWARE/SERVICES heading.  Click on "INSTALL PHP.INI MASTER FILE".  This creates a file in public_html named php.ini.default..  Move the file to wherever you need it, remove the .default and you're set.

As with anything mechanical or electronic, issues cannot be foreseen whether they'll occur again after being repaired. When we begin repairing an issue, it does not leave our attention until it's fixed, and we can confirm it's fixed--This means that all services are responding, response times are acceptable, errors are not being generated in our main logs, sites are reachable, memory isn't full, etc; What happens after that is dependent on any number of variables, all of which are not necessarily in our control. Being in the shared hosting environment we administer, adding several hundred users into that mix of variables just increases the likelihood of something breaking. Unfortunately this is just something that comes with the territory when hosting within a shared environment.

Rest assured, when an issue does appear we are diligently working on fixing it as best and quickly as humanly possible. Our administrators are extremely proficient and among some of the best in the industry.

If risks of intermittent downtime are unacceptable, the closest solution to have 100% apparent uptime is co-location with redundant servers and networks with failover capability. Services such as these can be had for usually a few hundred dollars a month.

Wordpress - How to change a lost passwor

You can reset the Wordpress's password through your cPanel

1) Open the phpMyAdmin tool and select the *database on the left-hand side

2) Select the Users table in the left-hand side. Along top in main body, click on the Browse tab. You should be able to see under the user_login the word admin.

3a) Click on the pencil icon and edit the password field.
      I. Then click the drop-down under the Function column and select MD5.
     II. Lastly, click Go.  Your password is now changed.  As this removes password salting, I recommend changing your password again in the WordPress Dashboard.  While not strictly necessary, it is a security boost.

3b) View or edit the email field.
      I. Change email, if desired.
     II. Return to the WordPress admin's login page and click the Lost your Password? link and retrieve new password from that email account.

* = If you do not know the database's name, return to the cPanel and select the File Manager icon.  Navigate to the directory where the WordPress script is installed.  Select the 'wp-config.php' file and click the Edit button along the top to view the name.
